The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES AIE Program provides component school districts with high-quality, professional performances and art-integrated learning experiences for students in grades K-12.
The Program has three (3) main components: Base Performances, Visiting Artists, and Contract Performers and/or Ticket Purchase.
The Base Fee provides participating districts with the Base Performances and Visiting Artists components.
The Contract Performers and/or Ticket Purchase component is available to AIE participating districts at an additional aidable cost.
Many thanks to the Arts in Education Committee district representatives who selected the 2010-11 base performances. They reviewed several study guides, DVDs, and other promotional material prior to their selection.
2010-11 BASE PERFORMANCES AIE participating districts will receive performances from at least 2 National/International performers and 1 Local Performer per year.
NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL TOURS Jump with Jill: is a rock 'n roll nutrition concert for elementary students (grades K-6). With microhphone in hand, Jill gets kids learning about nutrition by moving to her original music. The interactive experience not only makes eating breakfast and drinking water cool, but helps increase retention of these important health messages. Surf School: is a guide to safely navigating the 'Net for students in grades 5-12. This program uses music and an interactive discussion to address students on a peer level on how to enjoy the benefits of the internet while keeping safe. Createor Jill Jayne uses her academic and music credentials to deliver internet safety messages with a rock 'n roll punch. Surf Schools acknowledges students as leaders of the newest media, empowering them to take charge of communicating with their parents and trusted adults about their internet activities. The Gizmo Guys: Performing as the Gizmo Guys, Allan Jacobs and Barrett Felker have amazed and amused audiences around the world. They work in a great variety of venues including theaters, corporate functions of all types, cruise ships.... you name it, they've done it. Sure, they've made numerous television appearances, won international juggling competitions, and taught at top circus schools. But what makes their act so appealing is their uniquely winning combination of dazzling technique and infectious humor. VISITING ARTISTS COMPONENT Participating Districts are eligible to receive up to 2 days (12 hours) of “arts services” from area visiting artists as part of the base fee. To request a Visiting Artist please complete and submit the Program Service Request form found below.
Visiting Artist Service Request Form CONTRACT PERFORMERS/TICKET PURCHASE COMPONENT In addition to the Base Services, districts participating in the AIE Program may invite contract performers into their district. Contract performer’s honorarium, travel expenses, and a 10% administrative fee will be billed to your district through the AIE CoSer. All performances must have a clear connection to the NYS Learning Standards for Arts. To request a contracted service please complete and return the Service Request form found below.

Steven Krasner - "Nudging the Imagination" is a collection of literacy workshops developed and presented by Steven Krasner, an award-winning children's author, who has been traveling around the country, sharing his love and enthusiasm for writing with students of all ages for more than 20 years. His workshops take on several forms, all of which are fun-filled, highly interactive and motivational for students, teachers and parents, tying into the application of standards and leading to independent and enthusiastic writers. Lake Placid Center for the Arts: The center is a year-round performing and visual arts facility. They consistently present arts of the highest caliber in music, dance, and theatre performances, film exhibitions, and visual arts presentations. The center also provides arts-in education programs, workshops, and residencies for aspiring and renowned artist. Oswegatchie River House Museum: This museum is a private educational institution holding classes in art since 1983 sponsored by River House Wares and Restoration. The museum is a local vertically organized collection of assorted items specifically relating to Rensselaer Falls and the surrounding region. The art school includes a pottery studio with four wheels and several kilns. Two historical documents have been published entitled The Falls and The Falls Revisited.
